  1. Simple Sentence: A simple sentence consists of a single independent clause, expressing a complete thought.

    • "The cat sat on the mat."
  2. Compound Sentence: A compound sentence consists of two or more independent clauses joined by a coordinating conjunction (such as 'and', 'but', 'or') or a semicolon.

    • "The dog barked loudly, and the neighbors complained."
    • "She likes to read books; he prefers to watch movies."
  3. Complex Sentence: A complex sentence consists of one independent clause and at least one dependent clause, which cannot stand alone as a complete sentence.

    • "Although it was raining, we decided to go for a walk."
    • "He studied hard because he wanted to pass the exam."
  4. Interrogative Sentence: An interrogative sentence asks a question and ends with a question mark.
