To apply bullets and numbering in Microsoft Word, follow these steps:

 

  1. Select the Text: First, select the text to which you want to apply bullets or numbering. You can select a single paragraph, multiple paragraphs, or even just a single line.

  2. Apply Bullets or Numbering:

    • To apply bullets, go to the "Home" tab in the Word ribbon.
    • In the "Paragraph" group, you'll see two buttons: one for bullets and one for numbering.
    • Click the "Bullets" button (which looks like small black circles) to apply bullets to the selected text.
    • Click the "Numbering" button (which looks like a list with numbers) to apply numbering to the selected text.
  3. Customize Bullets or Numbering (Optional):

    • After applying bullets or numbering, you can customize the appearance of the bullets or numbers. To do this, click the dropdown arrow next to the "Bullets" or "Numbering" button in the Paragraph group.
    • This will open a gallery of bullet styles or numbering formats.
    • You can choose a different bullet style or numbering format from the gallery, or you can click "Define New Bullet" or "Define New Number Format" to create a custom bullet or numbering style.
  4. Indentation and Alignment (Optional):

    • You can also adjust the indentation and alignment of bulleted or numbered lists. To do this, use the Increase Indent and Decrease Indent buttons in the Paragraph group.
    • These buttons allow you to change the level of indentation for list items, as well as the alignment of the entire list.
  5. Multilevel Lists (Optional):

    • Word also supports multilevel lists, where each level of the list has its own numbering or bullet style. To create a multilevel list, click the dropdown arrow next to the "Numbering" or "Bullets" button in the Paragraph group, then choose a multilevel list style from the gallery.
