  1. Savory Sauces:

    • Tomato Sauce: Made from tomatoes, often seasoned with herbs, garlic, and onions. Used in pasta dishes, pizzas, and as a base for many Italian and Mediterranean dishes.
    • Bechamel Sauce: A white sauce made from butter, flour, and milk. Commonly used in dishes like macaroni and cheese, lasagna, and various gratins.
    • Hollandaise Sauce: A rich, creamy sauce made with butter, egg yolks, and lemon juice or vinegar. Often served with eggs Benedict, asparagus, or fish.
    • Gravy: A sauce made from meat drippings, flour, and broth or stock. Typically served with roasted meats like turkey, beef, or chicken.
  2. Asian Sauces:

    • Soy Sauce: A salty, savory sauce made from fermented soybeans and wheat. Widely used in Asian cuisine as a seasoning and marinade.
    • Hoisin Sauce: A thick, sweet and savory sauce made from soybeans, garlic, vinegar, and various spices. Commonly used in Chinese cuisine as a glaze or dipping sauce.
    • Teriyaki Sauce: A sweet and savory sauce made from soy sauce, sugar, and mirin (sweet rice wine). Used as a marinade or glaze for grilled or broiled meats and seafood.

  4. Creamy Sauces:

    • Alfredo Sauce: A creamy sauce made from butter, cream, and Parmesan cheese. Often served with pasta dishes such as fettuccine Alfredo.
    • Carbonara Sauce: A creamy sauce made from eggs, cheese (usually Pecorino Romano or Parmesan), pancetta, and black pepper. Traditionally served with pasta like spaghetti or fettuccine.
    • Mornay Sauce: A cheese sauce made from bechamel sauce and grated cheese (usually Gruyere or Emmental). Used in dishes like croque monsieur, macaroni and cheese, or as a topping for vegetables.
