Top 5 Advantages and Disadvantages of Hostel Life!

The most important phase of our life is hostel life. Students can develop their independence and responsibility in hostels. Many college students who come from other cities to study in their colleges stay in hostels. When living with your parents, it is sometimes difficult to establish a sense of responsibility. Staying in a hostel teaches you a lot about cooperation, helping your roommates, getting along and adaptability. A student staying in a hostel comes in contact with many other students who are similar in age and outlook. It can have both positive and negative effects. Yet humans begin to learn when they have to make decisions.

Top 5 Advantages of Hostel Life

Discipline:

  • The most beautiful aspect of living in a hostel is that the authority of the institution or university is maintained and cannot be tampered with by the students. Everything has a specific time including waking up, going to bed, attending lectures and studying till late at night. One of the biggest ways to maintain your discipline is through food. Students learn positive behavior by imitating others. One student will influence many students if they wake up in the morning and exercise.

No Disruption:

  • Without any other distractions, one can learn better. The hostel provides ideal study environment for the students. As a result, you will get higher exam grades.

Lets You Build Friendships:

  • Being separated from your family does not make you powerless. On the other hand, some friends will significantly influence your life. You can talk about your studies and share your issues with them. You tend to empathize with someone you have not before because new connections are made in the hostel environment. Over time, you will likely develop an emotional bond with your housemates. After graduation, you will remember these moments.

Everything You Need Is Nearby:

  • There are bakeries, gyms, playgrounds, libraries and even washing machines near the hostel. The main benefit of staying in a hostel is access to all the necessary amenities close at hand. You dont have to waste energy and time traveling far to get what you need. You can adjust your schedule according to your taste when you stay in the hostel. Similarly, you are free to start studying whenever you want.

Be More Independent:

  • Being self-sufficient is very important for students so that they can start their careers and lead a happy independent life. This feature is useful, especially when you are away and want to maintain your independence for the rest of your life. Homes are full of joy, and your parents provide you with all you need. However, living in a hostel forces you to perform your own tasks. Staying in a hostel teaches valuable lessons, from managing work to taking self-responsibility. The benefits of living in a hostel include adapting to an unfamiliar environment and taking care of yourself.

Top 5 Disadvantages of Hostel Life

Insufficient Facilities:

  • The lack of service can often frustrate you as most of your time in a hostel is not private. There are some restrictions that you have to follow while staying in hostels. No need to argue about the services you are getting including food and restrooms. If you can not live without air conditioner, you have to get used to it as well. If the food does not taste good, there is no choice but to eat it. The standard of living is much lower than at home.

Hostel life Is Expensive:

  • Cost is just one of the many drawbacks of life in a hostel. The cost of going to college and finding housing is something that only a few can afford. Hostel costs can add up to a significant amount when combined with tuition, entrance, and registration fees that you must pay in advance.

Dishonest Association:

  • In hostels, its easy to meet uncomfortable people and develop unwanted habits that can turn into addiction. You become more reckless when you dont have a family member to tell you whats cute and whats not. The effect of terrible students can be detrimental to other students. Watching movies late at night, smoking and drinking alcohol not only harms your health but can also make you lose focus on your academics. Good friends have bad friends. A major downside of hostel living for parents and students is that you may not have good company.

Solitude:

  • Leaving the comfort of home, living with strangers who dont speak your language, eating terrible food and getting sick. All these events can make you suddenly feel alone. Students suffer from constant loneliness only because of lack of love and care from the parents. Although the hostel mates try to take care of each other, they cannot look after each other like parents. It is normal to feel alone and powerless in such situations. As a result, many students drop out of college early.

Hard To Concentrate:

  • In a young and vibrant college environment, focusing on studies can be challenging. Although the parents send their children to the hostel, they spend time there having fun and getting drunk. Also, sleeping late can make it difficult to focus the next day in class.
